MCG security measures are in place to deal with any terrorist threat to the Ashes teams and spectators at this year's Boxing Day Test, Melbourne Cricket Club chief executive Stephen Gough said today.

Mr Gough gave the assurance following claims that the terror bombers who hit London last July, killing more than 50 people, had earlier been ordered to kill the Australian and English cricket teams with sarin gas.

A man claiming to be a friend of one of the terrorists said they had been instructed by al-Qaeda to gain employment as stewards for last July's Second Test at Edgbaston and spray sarin gas inside the players' change rooms.

Mr Gough said today any threat to the MCG would most likely also involve spectators.

"I think that generally if something is going to happen, it is going to impact on all," Mr Gough said on ABC Radio today. "So therefore in terms of our precautions, it is right across the stadium, players and the public."

Victoria Police had briefed MCG management on security and any terrorist threat, Mr Gough said.

MCG staff were also members of a Federal Government terror response group.

"We are part of a national group that was formed under the federal attorney-general in terms of major infrastructure, and we have been a member of that group for some three years now," Mr Gough said.

"We receive regular reports and certainly coming up to major events like (the Boxing Day (Test) or the (AFL) Grand Final, (the) Anzac Day (match between Essendon and Collingwood), we are always receiving updates.

What a load of crap! Ready for any threat!!!! So how do they stop a plane flying into the MCG? Exactly they are not ready for any threat at all!

Daniel
