More of Mickey Mouse

Airlite Group
The Airlite Group is made up of culturally diverse and geographically dispersed cleaning industry contractors. Faced with rising insurance premiums and sustained levels of injury the Airlite Group took the view that the human and financial costs were unacceptable and committed resources to change the culture and send a clear message that safety was to become a critical aspect of performance from the board of directors down. Achieving a 66% reduction in premiums over the last three years, this significant and measurable impact has been widely accepted as the benchmark for the industry as a whole.

Classic instance of how the insurance companies coupled with the Safety Legislators and Safety Profession get together and promote crap! Yep crap that's all it is, they get an award for reducing insurance premiums by 66%! Now if they were fair dinkum about safety they would only give awards to companies/organisations that showed a dramatic increase in incidents and injury rates!

But no not in this country where safety is run by unqualified individuals yeilding to the insurance giants by giving awards for premium reductions! So what happened to the injuries? Well there are many ways to reduce premiums without making the workplace safer!

They could have made workers facing long term exposure and injury redundant, then they can put people back into the workplace doing nothing much untill they resign in disgust, and the rest would just be returned to work faster than they used to!

So what improved in safety in this workplace????? Nothing the incidents are still there, the injuries are still there (although hidden better) the only thing that improved was they returned the injured workers to work sooner and they get a safety award from the NSCA!

Typical of Australian Safety and the lack of knowledge shown by the Safety Institute of Australia in allowing these awards to be called safety awards when they are nothing more than awards to motivate companies to give the insurance companies even greater profits without offering any protection to the workers.
